FAQ

Here you'll find a few answers about what we make, how it’s made, and why we do it the way we do.

How was the art created?

We used a combination of royalty-free reference images to help guide the generation process. These references are chosen intentionally to move the AI toward more ethical, non-copyrighted outputs and to reduce reliance on unlicensed data. They help shape the look, mood, and structure of the images while keeping the process more responsible.

What AI tools did you use?

We primarily used Midjourney and occasionally, ChatGPT for ideation. We do not control how the models were trained, and we cannot verify every data source.

If harm exists, why use AI at all?

We believe that a healthier AI landscape will only emerge if people who care about ethics actively participate and push the space forward.

What steps are you taking to minimize harm?

We’re approaching AI as a limited-use tool, not an ongoing creative system.
All the AI-generated images used across our products were created in a small window. We will not be generating new art. This decision is a core part of our harm reduction approach.

We believe AI should not be treated like an unlimited or sustainable resource. Instead of relying on it indefinitely, we’ve chosen to work with what we’ve already made. This is not a perfect solution. But it’s a conscious one, and it reflects our commitment to using AI responsibly.

Do you claim ownership over the artistic styles you use?

No. The art we generated exists because of years of dedication from human artists. The art was inspired by art movements, like impressionism, surrealism, and abstract art, which all come from real creative histories. We do not claim to have invented these styles or techniques. We are drawing from a visual lineage built by others, and we approach that with gratitude and respect.

How will donations work?

90% of profits from Life in Kaleidoscope brands will be donated to support human artists and other communities impacted by AI. This may include: arts education programs, mutual aid for artists, organizations advocating for ethical AI, and groups supporting creators affected by current AI practices.

Exact partners will evolve over time as we learn more and as the landscape changes.

How will you support human artists beyond donations?

We plan to use our platforms to feature, highlight, and promote human artists. This will include: spotlight features, collaborations, sharing or signal boosting artists’ work, and offering platform space on relevant brand pages.

The goal is not to replace or overshadow artists, but to acknowledge them and support their work.

What AI tools do you use?

We primarily use Midjourney. We do not control how the models were trained, and we cannot verify every data source. Because of that, we use them thoughtfully and transparently, while staying open to safer and more ethical tools as they become available.

If harm exists, why use AI at all?

In all honesty, survival. We create to survive, both mentally and physically, especially with our own personal limited capacity. But we also recognize that we have to be responsible for impact. Instead of ignoring it, we account for it in the process. We also believe that a healthier AI landscape will only emerge if people who care about ethics actively participate and push the space forward.
